Naming Ceremony

Many parents choose not to have their babies baptised into a particular faith, but equally, they want to commemorate the birth of their child/children and welcome them into their family.  A baby naming ceremony is a special event held to formally introduce a new child to family and friends and to celebrate the child’s arrival. It is often a non-religious or secular alternative to traditional christenings or baptisms, though it can also include spiritual or cultural elements depending on the family’s preferences. The ceremony is highly customisable, allowing families to include various elements that are meaningful to them.

You can select music suitable for a baby or children and maybe poems or even a story.  We can also include a ritual such as a Sand Ceremony or Candle Ceremony.  The Sand Ceremony is particularly appropriate if there are older children in the family who are not otherwise involved in the ceremony.  The story or your baby could include any family history or names associated with the chosen name for your baby .

There may be other children in the family who have not had a baptism or similar ceremony.  They can be included in the baby naming ceremony so that they do not feel left out when they are older.  Each child will receive a certificate as a memento of the occasion.

A naming ceremony can also be a celebration for someone who has changed gender and wishes to include their family and friends in their new journey.
